Dana Berti
Dana Berti holds a PhD in Nursing, on the development and implementation of an interdisciplinary counseling center for patients with atrial fibrillation. Since 2010, she has been working as a cardiac arrhythmia nurse specialist. In 2014, Dana became a board member of the Belgian Working Group on Cardiovascular Nursing.
Dimitri Jacquemin
Eva Goossens
Eva Goossens is a doctor of nursing, with the theme of continuity of care for adolescents with a congenital heart defect during the transition to adult care. Eva became a member of the Belgian Working Group on Cardiovascular Nursing in 2012 and chaired the board of directors in 2017.
Inge Bolle
I have been working full-time at the AZ Delta hospital in Roeselare since August 2018. I have various positions within the hospital. I started as a nurse specialist in heart failure and as a study nurse in cardiology. In the meantime I have been given various growth opportunities, which means that I am also a pacemaker technician and echocardiographer. Since September 2021 I also work part-time at VIVES University of Applied Sciences. As a guest lecturer I am responsible for internship supervision, bachelor thesis supervision and I teach the course circulation.
Ive Verbeeck
Ive Verbeeck graduated in 2016 as a Master in Nursing at KU Leuven. From 2014 he worked as a (head) nurse at UZ Leuven. In 2020 he started as a cardiovascular nurse at the University Hospital of Antwerp (UZA).
Jens Boelens
Jens Boelens started his career as a nurse at Ghent University Hospital in 2002. He started as a nurse in intensive care surgery. After 3 years he became an emergency nurse at Ghent University Hospital. In 2014, Jens became head nurse at the Intensive Care Cardiology Department (heart monitoring). Jens specializes in urgent care/intensive care and acute life support.
Karen De Munck
Karen graduated as a nurse in 2000 and has always worked in a cardiology department. In November 2009, she made the transition to the Antwerp University Hospital to establish and help shape the short-stay cardiology unit as the head nurse. In the following years, she combined this with the responsibilities for internal patient transport and long-stay cardiology/CCU. Since June 2022, she has been full-time as the head nurse of the cardiology/CCU unit. Karen is interested in all aspects of cardiology, from acute care with resuscitation to palliative care in the terminal phase.
Liesbet Van Bulck
Liesbet Van Bulck is a PhD student at the Academic Center for Nursing and Midwifery at KU Leuven. Her PhD research focuses on health care utilization and patient-reported outcomes in adults with congenital heart disease. Since 2017 she is a board member of the Belgian Working Group on Cardiovascular Nursing.
Michèle de Hosson
From August 2005 to April 2013, Michèle worked as a qualified nurse at the Coronary Care Department of Ghent University Hospital. In 2009 she graduated as a Master of Nursing Science at Utrecht University (The Netherlands). Since May 2013, she has been working as a clinical nurse specialist for (young) adults with congenital heart disease at Ghent University Hospital. She is currently doing a PhD research on transition care. Since 2014 she is a board member of the Belgian Working Group on Cardiovascular Nursing. She is secretary and assists in the organization of the annual symposia.
Philippe Delrez
Philippe Delrez has been a nurse in the cardiovascular ICU since 2001. He did a master's degree in education and health promotion and works as a tobaccologist. He is currently also ICU IT Coordinator at UCL Saint-Luc. Philippe has been a board member of the Belgian Working Group on Cardiovascular Nursing since 2014.
Yaël Verharen
Yaël Vanharen graduated as a nurse in 2017 and has since worked full-time as a nurse in the cathlab of ZNA Middelheim, where she specialized in electrophysiology. In 2018, she resumed her studies part-time, and in 2022, she graduated as a Nurse Specialist in Cardiology. Currently, she is working as a doctoral student at the University of Antwerp. Her project aims to develop a care pathway for pregnant women with cardiovascular conditions. Since 2022, she has been an enthusiastic board member of the Belgian Working Group on Cardiovascular Nursing.
Shana Thys
Shana Thys completed her Master's degree in Nursing at KU Leuven in 2017. Since then, she has been working as a cardiac nurse specialist for atrial fibrillation at Jessa Hospital in Hasselt. On the one hand, she is involved in developing an interdisciplinary AF advice center within the Heart Center Hasselt. On the other hand, as a Physician Assistant Nurse Cardiology, she manages the short-stay patients who are scheduled for day surgery, such as a coronary angiography, a CIED implantation, or an ablation. Since 2022, she has been a board member of the Belgian Working Group on Cardiovascular Nursing.
Céline Spoormans
Céline Spoormans obtained her Master’s degree in Nursing from KU Leuven in 2019 and has since been working in the Cardiology Department of UZ Leuven, where she is currently active as a nurse for 50% of her time. Since 2022, she has been a heart failure nurse specialist, playing a key role in the coordination and optimization of care for patients with both acute and chronic heart failure. Her focus is on guiding and supporting patients throughout their illness. Additionally, Céline joined the board of the Belgian Working Group on Cardiovascular Nursing in 2023.
